In my personal opinion, I think that the movie "Do The Right Thing" is very informative and eye opening. The messages that are being conveyed reach the audience very well and inform the audience of what is going on. One message that I believe was conveyed is respect. In the scene where Clifton pushes past Buggin' Out steps on his sneakers. When Buggin' Out realizes that Clifton messed up his sneakers, he made sure that Clifton didn't get away until he knew what he did wrong. Buggin' Out brought up the fact that he should have said excuse me. Also, Buggin' Out continues on saying that Clifton shouldn't be in his neighborhood. Buggin' Out is trying to get the message across that there should be a mutual ground of respect. A big example of tension in this film would be when Punchy and Cee got Charlie and his car soaking wet. When they ruined his car, Charlie got the attention of the police officers and demanded that they "arrest the two little black boys". Charlie chose to keep referring them to only their skin color. That created tension with the neighborhood considering the fact that they witnessed everything.

In the script “Do The Right Thing” I do believe that there is an indication of what the right thing to do is. The right thing to do is think before you speak, be mindful of others and the fact that they’ll have different opinions than yours. An example of this would be when Buggin’ Out believed that Sal should have black people up on this wall, along with the Italian Americans. This would not have been an issue if both parties didn’t have different feelings about the situations. If both people had just been mindful of each other’s opinions and feelings than they would have been solved the problem in a more sophisticated manner. Although the script doesn’t exactly say be mindful of others, it is an underlying expectation of everyone in the neighborhood.
